The Nifty 50 index fell 68.55 points or 0.67% to settle at 10,118.05, its lowest closing level since 12 October 2017. The index fell 11.15 points, or 0.11% at the day’s high of 10,175.45. The index fell 92.60 points, or 0.91% at the day’s low of 10,094.
The Sensex fell 181.43 points or 0.55% to settle at 32,760.44, its lowest closing level since 24 October 2017. The index rose 3.07 points, or 0.01% at the day’s high of 32,944.94. The index fell 258.28 points, or 0.78% at the day’s low of 32,683.59.
The breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak. On BSE, 1,942 shares declined and 767 shares rose. A total of 105 shares were unchanged.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 3928.92 crore, lower than turnover of Rs 4128.13 crore registered during the previous trading session.
